Cognitive

The limbic system in the brain responds emotionally to stress and trauma. Because of the way the brain is wired, when we respond a certain way over and over again to particular stimuli, our brain continues to respond to life in that manner (neural pathways become set in the brain). 


The good news is the Lord is a brilliant creator, and He has given us a way to retrain and rewire the brain to respond in a healthier way, and it’s surprisingly easy to do. It’s called neuroplasticity and it’s something we focus on regularly at The Still Workout™, and it’s a large part of the Solution.

Physical

The body holds onto emotion, stress, and trauma in the tissue. That may sound crazy but think about it. You can feel stress in the tightness of your shoulders, neck, and head. You can feel it in your gut, in that churning, uncomfortable sensation. You may feel it creeping up the back of your neck in the form of heat or a prickly feeling. 


We now know these emotions are held in connective tissue called fascia. Fascia weaves in and around every single cell in the body, and not only is it responsible for much of the chronic physical pain we feel, but it also holds captive in the body the emotional pain we feel.


Praise God we have found a simple, effective way to release the fascial adhesions that can cause this pain, using simple tools and a signature deep breathing technique. Freedom is just around the corner.

Spiritual

It’s so important to remember the Lord doesn’t want us to be anxious. (Phil 4:6) Anxiety can also be defined as fear, and the Bible is loaded with verses encouraging us to not be afraid and to trust in Him. 


Here’s the problem: It’s so easy to say that, and read those words in the Bible, but it can be incredibly hard to experience them given the cognitive and physical issues described in the previous paragraphs.


Another problem is we have become a society that glorifies busyness and social media activity, which constantly bombard our brains with often bad, and sometimes catastrophic, information.


The Bible is meant to be read, heard, and meditated on in stillness. It’s difficult to quiet the mind enough to take in the word of God in a way that restores the soul when we’re rushing, or our brains can’t slow down due to chronic overstimulation.

The 10 Day Anxiety Solution

In the 10 Day Anxiety Solution we will take ten days (within 30) to work on retraining the brain. We will begin rewiring the brain through the limbic system to respond to adversity in a healthier way. We will release fascial adhesions, allowing the body to let go of trapped emotions and soothe chronic physical pain. We will be covered in Scripture, meditating on the word of God in stillness, focusing on who God is, as we are encouraged to do in Psalm 46:10, “Be still and know that I am God.”


Done together, these three practices pack a powerful punch to anxiety. I don’t believe it’s possible to go through this program and not experience impactful change, because God loves it when we take time in His presence. He will meet us every single time.
